Eden Taff (b. 2000, Washington, DC) is a painter based in Brooklyn, New York, and London, UK.

Eden graduated from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study in 2023 with a major in The History of Visual Taste and a minor in Studio Art. She will pursue her Masters in Painting at the Royal College of Art, London (expected 2027).

Eden’s artwork was first published in Rookie Magazine in 2016. Her work has been exhibited in New York City, Upstate New York, Miami, and the Washington, DC area. Her recent exhibitions include Speakeasy Happy Hour at UTOPIA Upstate, Cult of Domesticity at LUmkA, and NADA Miami, represented by Lubov. Eden has completed commissioned mural work for DC Public Schools, and her artwork is represented online by Brave New World group for exclusive access by owners of Marriott Luxury Collection residences.

Eden’s figurative oil paintings capture subjects suspended in time, posed, embracing, staring, their role unclear. This uncertainty creates tension in her work, producing visions that register as film stills or excerpts from dreams. Choreographed marks describe the movement of hair and gestural brushstrokes imply the direction of limbs and the shadows of musculature. Scraping and layering creates patterns that delineate objects, textiles, and natural elements. Subjects dissolve into brushwork or stand against backdrops like paper cutouts, and settings appear if the space itself is ungrounded. Eden’s practice resists archetypal depictions of women’s bodies in pre-modernist Western art, instead self-representing the body freed from a lens of desire, sacredness, or morality. Her work investigates how our environment dictates the performance of societal norms and boundaries surrounding how we act and dress.

Eden currently works as an independent graphic designer, as Design and Communications Manager for Marriott International’s Global Design division, and as Head of Design for No Agency New York. She helped launch and design No Agency’s monthly newsletter (in print 2022-2023), their quarterly No Erotica magazine (current), and the No Agency Annual book, published by Ditto Nation via Printed Matter. She most recently led the design for photographer Richard Kern’s newest book, New York Girls Now. No Agency’s design publications have received praise from DAZED, NYLON, Art Net, Spike Art Magazine, and more. Their third No Erotica was specially designed for Kaleidoscope
